About Me

I am a therapist who specialises in supporting women (or individuals identifying as feminine) through life transitions and emotional dysregulation by holding space when identity, attachment, meaning, and self-worth are under pressure.

Women navigating transitions such as motherhood, menopause, career shifts, relocation, relationship changes, emotional dysregulation, attachment issues, eating disorders or divorce are not just dealing with external adjustments, they are confronting an internal narrative and an internal voice that conflicts with their own authentic 'source' or their inherent essence. The emotional dysregulation is patterned, layered, and deeply connected to a woman’s history, her relational templates, her cultural context as well as her hormonal and metabolic health.

When a woman feels dysregulated, there is usually a dissonance between her idea of 'self'/ego that has been externally focussed, versus her compassionate self that is internally focussed.

Women are complex and layered and the central drivers of human evolution. As a therapist, I honour that complexity by not just resorting to textbook pathology or symptom based clinical therapy but a nuanced, attentive presence that offers safety & partnership.

What is the professional background and clinical experience of this therapist?

Hi there, my name is Malancha. I'm a psychotherapist and a counsellor who likes to look at the world through rose-tinted glasses. I have been in the profession for quite a few years and prior to becoming a full clinical psychotherapist, I used to be in the corporate sector, about 20 years, two decades spanning organisational wellness, employee behaviour, and employee engagement. And that's where my journey into human stories, the sensitivity to personal issues that kind of transcend workspaces, got my curiosity.

What is the clinical philosophy and therapeutic approach of this therapist?

My clinical approach the best way to define it is integrative and holistic. I draw a lot on CBT-informed mindfulness modalities. I draw from Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT). And for my more goal-oriented clients, I like to tap into SFBT, which is more solution-focused, and Choice Theory, which works wonderfully with my young clients and adolescents. And at the same time, at the core, I would say I am very Rogerian in the way I present myself, in the way I am able to tap into the essence and what really makes the person who they are inside the therapy room. I do use somatic approaches as well for clients who have gone through deep trauma and who really need to feel unstuck in their bodies and in their energy.

Which client populations and mental health concerns does this therapist specialise in?

Who do I help? My core demography, so to speak, as mentioned before, I help women going through life transitions: motherhood, divorce, career shifts, movement, migration from one place to the other, adolescents who are going through identity shifts, and toxic relationships, focus issues, neurodivergent individuals who feel stuck in their patterns and who really want a way out, couples who are going through intimacy and relationship issues, and finally families and organisations as well.

How does this therapist's approach align with the Dr OM & Associates philosophy?

What resonates with me as a practitioner is the fact that the journey within, discovering your authentic essence and using that as a way to unlock where you are in the present, was something that was very powerful when I got to know about how Dr OM & Associates and how they function. And that was really a win-win because that's exactly how I see and how I approach the way I practise therapy.

What are the tips this therapist has for their followers?

Here is a tip: so what you do is you just kind of centre yourself wherever you are, in the loo, in the bathroom, on the edge of your bed. You just do a forced intake of your breath. So you just keep your hand on your rib cage and you inhale to a count of three through your nose. And when you think you've reached the top of your breath, you inhale some more. You go... so you're doing three breaths on top of your top breath when you think you've inhaled enough. But then you inhale some more and you do short breaths of three. Then through your mouth, you are literally exhaling out all the carbon dioxide out of your system to a count of eight. So if you do that for about two to three times, it just sets your body up.
